Itinerary
Day 1Sun Feb 11
Jeddah
  • We start today with a city tour of Jeddah, showing you both the old and new of this vibrant city.
  • We will visit the Jeddah Corniche which runs along the Red Sea, as well as introducing you to the old part of Jeddah, the Al Balad District, where we will see some of the most iconic historical architecture in Jeddah. This area is host to numerous cafes and small museums as well as the old Souq.
  • A quick photo stop by the world's second largest flag pole ! (It overtook the Baku flagpole in 2014 and then was overtaken by a flagpole in Egypt in 2021.)
  • We will also see the distant Jeddah Tower, which is eventually to be the world’s tallest building. Later, we will finish up at the Floating Mosque, another one of Jeddah’s must see attractions.
  • Afterwards we will return to the hotel and then head for dinner to try some of the amazing food Jeddah has to offer. Our recommendation is the seafood!

Day 2Mon Feb 12
Jeddah - Wadi Al Disah
  • We will head to the airport in the morning to catch a domestic flight to Tabuk, which lies in the far north of the country near the border with Jordan.
  • We will then be picked up and driven deep into the remote Wadi Al Disah valley. This place is an undiscovered gem and extremely beautiful.
  • We will stay with a local Saudi family on their farm surrounded by the red rock mountains.
  • In the evening we will have a traditional Saudi meal and have a rest before a full day of exploring tomorrow (dinner included).

Day 3Tue Feb 13
Wadi Al Disah
  • In the morning we journey into the wilderness of Saudi Arabia to see Wadi Al Disah. This is one of the most spectacular sights in all of Saudi Arabia and is still relatively unknown by outsiders. This amazingly beautiful area is home to canyons and palm trees and provides for some unreal photo opportunities.
  • In the afternoon we will head out again to see more amazing rock formations and to get into position for sunset, which makes this area even more beautiful.
  • We will then head back to the farm where we will have dinner and a relaxed evening on the farm (dinner included).

Day 4Wed Feb 14
Wadi Al Disah – Al-'Ula
  • In the morning we will be driven through more epic scenery to the ancient centre of Al-'Ula which will take about 3 hours.
  • The walled city of Al-‘Ula was founded in the 6th century BC, an oasis in the desert valley, with fertile soil and plenty of water. It was located along 'Incense Road', the network of routes that facilitated the trading of spices, silk and other luxury items through Arabia, Egypt and India.
  • Walking along the narrow passageways of Al-'Ula, you'll feel like you're stepping back in time. It's phenomenal to think the last residents moved out in the 1980s! This maze of densely built mudbrick houses, many of which are more than 2000 years old, will amaze you. Sadly, it won't be here for long though as it is slowly disintegrating.
  • In the evening we'll do some stargazing in the remote desert where we will also enjoy a group BBQ dinner (dinner included).
  • Around 11pm we will arrive back at our accommodation where we will rest up for the night.
  • (Note: be sure to bring warm clothes for stargazing as the desert can be very cold at night.)

Day 5Thu Feb 15
Al-'Ula
  • Today we'll visit the Hegra. Possibly the most famous archaeological site on the Saudi peninsula. The site is similar to that of Petra in Jordan, due to them both being built during the Nabatean Empire, however until recently was much harder to get to due to visa restrictions.
  • We will also see other incredible rock formations and also make our way to the top of the cliffs that overlook the whole area.
  • In the evening you will have free time to roam around Al-'Ula town where you can find many food options.

Day 6Fri Feb 16
Al-'Ula – Ha'il
  • We will once again hit the road (approx. 5 hours), this time heading deeper into the interior of Saudi Arabia, to Ha'il, which sits on the edge of the Nafud Desert and the rugged Shammar Mountains.
  • Once we have arrived in Ha'il and settled into our hotel, we have the option to explore the Qishlah Castle in the centre of the city, and also to visit the quirky museum which showcases all kinds of trinkets throughout the ages from Saudi homes.
  • You will have a free evening in Ha'il where you'll have the opportunity to try local Najd cuisine which is very hearty, perfect for surviving in the desert.
