TOUR OVERVIEW
Due to Ramadan, this year we're starting our first group trip of the year a little later than usual. We need to make sure we're able to eat and drink plenty as this tour really does explore a huge chunk of Afghanistan. From Kandahar in the South, to Mazar i Sharif in the North and the capital Kabul in the center, this is the best way to experience everything this amazing country has to offer.
If the blue mosque, known as the Shrine of Ali, in Mazar i Sharif, is the most famous site in Afghanistan, then the Mosque of the Cloak of the Prophet Mohammad has to be a close second. One of the holiest sites in the country, it contains what is said to be a cloak/robe worn by Prophet Mohammad during his famous night journey. Very few tourists have been here due to the security situation of the previous decades, however now we are taking you there.
We'll also explore other aspects of Afghanistan including its pre-Islamic history, such as the Buddhist stupa in Samangan, and what modern life is like facing the new realities that Afghanistan faces. On the tour we'll visit various organisations trying to make life better for ordinary Afghans.
