Is it safe?

Yes, Algeria is very safe to travel. The capital Algiers as is the rest of the country. When you travel throughout the country you will even sometimes have a police escort that will travel with you in some remote areas.


Is it safe for women?

Yes, Algeria is safe for women. As long as you take normal precautions as you would anywhere such as not going to unknown places alone at night then your trip will be incident free.


Do I need a visa?

Yes, you do need a visa. This can be obtained either at your local Algerian embassy or we can arrange a special type of visa on arrival which is only available to people who are visiting southern areas of Algeria.


Do I need to take cash?

While some ATMs are available, you should bring cash. The exchange rate can differ greatly between official and black-market rates so it is best to bring cash to exchange for your trip.


Is alcohol banned?

No, alcohol is legal and available to consume in Algeria, especially in Algiers. You can find French-style brasseries dotted around the cities that serve cheap beer and wine.


What is the best time of year to visit?

Algeria is good all year round. Due to its size and variation in climates some areas are better than others at certain times. Summer in the Sahara can be very hot, but on the coast at the same time it will be lovely. We choose to run our tours in winter in Algeria because it is much cooler and make for more fun when sightseeing in the desert during the daytime.
