The smallest and least populated of the Central Asian Stans, Tajikistan is probably most famous for the Pamir Highway – the second highest highway in the world which traverses some of the most beautiful and sparsely populated areas of the world.
Despite the fact that most tourists to Tajikistan just do the Pamir highway, Tajikistan has so much more to offer. If you like old Soviet sanitoriums, a giant building in the shape of a watermelon, the world’s former largest flagpole (now 3 rd in this prestigious competition) and the world’s largest teahouse, then Tajikistan is for you. When in Tajikistan, we love to explore the capital Dushanbe (formally Stalinabad, named after Soviet leader Josef Stalin) and drive the famous death tunnel.
Tajikistan is also the outlier in Central Asia as their culture, language and traditions are Persian, thus providing a unique experience in the region.
If our group tour dates don't work for you, we also organise customised independent tours to Tajikistan, so why not get in touch!
