It has been a very long two years for Kazakhstan, which was virtually closed off from the rest of the world with visas for entry very hard to come by and only citizens generally being allowed to enter. Then of course there was the riots and unstable situation which followed in early January.
This has come to an end with the original visa free rules coming into effect from February 2022.
All arrivals need to present a negative PCR test from less than 72 hours before arrival. This is not applicable to children under 5. Entry is open to unvaccinated travellers.
Until recently all arrivals required an IDC (Interdepartmental Committee) Permission. Those which are not on the visa free list still require this permission and then must apply for a visa before travelling to Kazakhstan.
Land borders are still not open for visa free travel either, so if you are planning to cross by land, you will also need the IDC Permission.
The list of countries which are visa free are as follow:
-
Argentina

Armenia
